…because sometimes you need to step outside your brain to get some fresh air…
So these have become a THING for me. I won’t lie: I’m more than a little obsessed with them.
I may or may not spend more time making brain bugs than feeding my children.
What are Brain Bugs?
I’m so glad you asked!
They are cute little weirdos.
Just like me. (And everyone else.)
They mostly just sit on my desk like, “hey, I’m cute and weird.” They are a good reminder that human brains (like our bodies) are all different. And that’s weird. And cute. And awesome.
And also… they do magic…
…by which I mean they help my brain do its own magic, by serving as a mindfulness tool / brain hack that helps bring out my Watcher and get a bit of distance from whatever is currently swirling around in my mind.
They remind me that:
My ADHD brain is just doing its best to keep me safe at any given moment. Even if it seems like it’s actively and maliciously trying to sabotage my goals—by, say, getting distracted, or hyperfocused / obsessive, or anxious, or sad—it’s really just trying to help, and it could use a little compassion rather than frustration. I mean, look at those faces! How could you stay mad at those goofballs?!
All the stuff in #1 is also true of Other People’s Brains.
Playing = Learning = Loving = Living.
